The idea of making a series called the palette series can be taken literally, since I used palettes in some of these paintings. But the palettes are merely materials that had certain qualities similar to paint - certain marks, color seeking, relationships. When you paint long enough you realize that painting on the canvas has similar activities as mixing and discovering on the palette.  Some palettes were plexiglass and other palettes were a waxy paper that was glued to the canvas surface. Some are painted using water based pigments while others were painted using oil paint.
